Theme: Equity & Inclusion
Are your students ready to read for your class? Are they completing your reading assignments? Do their reading abilities match the intensity and complexity of your textbooks and reading assignments? Are they getting the reading support they need outside of class?
Join us as we work together to explore answers to these and other questions.
We will explore textbooks and reading assignments and discuss reading’s place in the college academic arena. We will examine authentic texts to determine text intensity and complexity facing students.
We will be discussing these issues in small groups, reporting findings to the larger group using the Question Formulation Technique to uncover what we know about our students, their reading, and our texts.
Outcomes:
- Faculty will learn how to determine the complexity and intensity of their texts.
- Faculty will explore their reading assignments and determine areas that may need support in the classroom as well as outside the classroom.
Type: Staff Improvement, Student Improvement, Instruction Improvement
