Theme: Wellness & Mental Health

Students may display behaviors such as  sudden change in academic performance, housing and/or food insecurities, concerning verbal or written statements, changes in behavior or appearance, or extreme emotions as the result of a life event.  Mt. SAC's Behavior & Wellness Team (B&WT) is a multidisciplinary campus team that guides the campus community in effectively assessing and addressing these concerns.  As a member of the National Behavior Intervention Team Association (NaBITA), the B&WT has been trained to assess and determine appropriate interventions.  This session will cover the history, and structure of the B&WT, including an overview of the decision-making process, the referral process, confidentiality, and partnering with the reporting parties.

Outcomes:

1. Participants will be able to identify members of the B&WT; complete a B&WT Referral Form; give examples of situations that would necessitate a referral; summarize and provide examples of how the B&WT makes decisions; understand the difference between a concern, a crisis situation, and a student misconduct report.
