Introducing an irresistible project at the beginning of a unit of study can give students a powerful motivation for learning.  In project based learning students are driven to learn content and skills for an authentic purpose. PBL involves students in explaining their answers to real-life questions, problems, or challenges. It starts with a driving question that leads to inquiry and investigation. Students work to create a product or presentation as their response to the driving question.  PBL requires you to coach more and instruct less, to embrace interdisciplinary learning instead of remaining locked in single-subject silos, and to be more comfortable with uncertainty and discovery during the learning process.  This presentation will introduce PBL and the hands on tools available at the Mountie Makerspace to aid you to implement PBL in your classroom.  The Mountie Makerspace provides the tools and space for your students to create tangible objects that help produce meaningful experiences across a range of disciplines.
